This means you can avoid driving on the same day with an early-morning drive or even driving directly back home right after your cruise. If you choose a hotel with cruise parking, you can wake up after a good night’s sleep, already in Galveston, so that you can embark on time or come back to the hotel after you disembark to unwind for a day or two after your cruise.
This is a great option because you don’t have to worry about immediately driving to or from (anywhere) directly after sailing.
Take it from me, this option is extremely helpful, especially if you are coming from the airport (HOU or IAH), which is known for lots of traffic.

The next thing you want to consider, if you’re budget-conscious like me, is the cost. Look at your budget and make a cost comparison for whether you believe it’s worth the cost of paying roughly $25 a day at the Galveston cruise port.
It may not be much of a difference to you if you have a 3-day cruise from Galveston, but when you start to take Galveston cruises that are 5-10 days or more, this can be rather costly, and not worth it if you can have a less costly option with a hotel that offers a cruise parking package. It is to say, however, that you shouldn’t dismiss that hotels are often well-lit, some have gated access, cameras, and the added benefit of valet service.
Pro tip: If your preferred hotel has valet, make sure you ask if it is “in-and-out” valet service, so that you can come and go as you please, without separate valet exit and entry fees (much better and offers freedom, flexibility, and pocket-book friendly).

Ah…the long-awaited topic of shuttle service.
This can be seen as two-fold. If you’re traveling on a shuttle from a Houston airport to a cruise package hotel, the hotel may not have a shuttle service that will accommodate you…I feel your pain!
But on the brighter side, you can have an airport transfer option with either Get Transfer or Welcome Pickups, and either will take you to your hotel or directly to the cruise terminal. Then, if you have a post-cruise itinerary in Galveston, your hotel can pick you up from the cruise terminal so you can enjoy Galveston!
Now, if you are already in Galveston and you have your car, you can park your car, and you can avoid cruise port traffic and long lines (whether finding a cruise port parking spot or from a third-party cruise shuttle service). I know from experience, having a direct transfer from the hotel to the cruise port will save time, energy, and it a greater likelihood that you can avoid the embarkation day mishaps of third-party shuttle services overbooking transport passengers.

As I mentioned earlier in the post, the Harbor House Hotel is within walking distance of the cruise terminal.
Honestly, because Galveston is a relatively small island and everything is within close proximity to each other, the farthest hotels may be a little at or under 20 minutes. So, either way, you will be close to the terminal because of the size of Galveston Island.
